Ichizen's signature dishes feature plump shrimp with thin, crispy tempura coating that captures the authentic Japanese texture and flavor. The menu includes Ichizen Tendon (9,000 Won), Ebi Tendon with premium shrimp (11,000 Won), Anago Tendon with sea eel (13,000 Won), and the Special Tendon (15,000 Won). Each bowl comes with perfectly crispy tempura served over rice with savory sauce. Side dishes like onsen tamago (soft-boiled egg), basil tomato, and pickled cucumber complement the main bowls.
Location
109 Poeun-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul (415-31 Mangwon-dong, near Mangwon Station Exit 2)
Arrive early or outside peak meal times to avoid extensive waits - the small 14-seat space fills quickly. The restaurant can run out of ingredients on busy days. Weekday lunch times see the longest queues. The ebi tendon is highly recommended for its quality-to-price ratio. A second location operates in Yongsan (Ichizen Tempura Meshi) with a different tempura set meal style. Cash and card both accepted.
